Day 2: The first work day

Erasmus+ project «ESSENCE: Eight Steps to a Successful and Entertaining Cultural Event» Day 2, or the first work day. The following activities happened today...

Personal introduction.

One introduction happened in form of a short speech, and the other two were in the form of games. Everyone had a chance to speak about herself, tell everyone why she's interested in the project, and to get to know others better. That was also meant to help participants check their oratory skills and to relax a bit for the next activities. This works best in the form of a game, in a relaxed manner, without any stress or tension.

These exercises are good for developing personal speaking abilities, standing in front of the large group, helping speakers make clear work and project participation targets.

Group forming and beginning work in groups — event organisation simulation.

During this session all the people were divided into three teams to start working on a virtual project. All together the participants decided the general topic, and then each chose a team to join, based on her personal abilities and interests. Then, each team worked on their task in the common fictional event.

During this session participants were able to check their organisational skills, to see and evaluate the other team members' work, and to see how well they're able to work in a team, which is an essential element of organising events.

This task was really important for the project, because we have learned in practice that communication is an essential point in any team work and especially in event organisation, and that good, well balanced team with well developed communication skills can achieve really high goals.

Day 9

The morning session was fully dedicated to the discussion about the project and the concert. During this session participants shared their thoughts and experience and their future visions about the possible projects that may have been born during the 9 days of the project.

Day 8

This day was fully dedicated to the final preparations for the final ESSENCE Concept project event — concert of the group BARAKA.

Day 7

During the morning session the project participants were working in the teams as usual in order to deal with technical issues that are arising during any cultural event organisation and before the ESSENCE Concept concert.

Day 6

During the first session of the day participants had a short introduction about the financial part of cultural event organization. After that they got a practical task of developing a financial strategy for some nominal event.

Day 5

The first session of the day was a meeting with the organizers of the local cultural event festival Give & Get. Meeting was held outside of LAMPA space and in more informal atmosphere. During this session participants could get the inside information about large scale event organization. As the festival is not a commercial event, participants were able to find out about how to attract volunteers to work at the festival, to get practical experiences that are connected with social and cultural event organization. Also this was another possibility to exchange contacts and experience with local experienced representatives working in the field of cultural event organization.

Day 4

At the first session of the day, participants have received vital information about press releases, presented by the course trainer Sergey Bremer who as a journalist himself has a huge experience in this field.

Day 3: starting to plan the real concert

After tuning to the informal wave, participants have introduced others to their vision of cultural events in their home countries and were talking about local event organization specifics.
